Why A Cheltenham Conveyancer Is Important

Buying a house anywhere in Australia is difficult to achieve successfully without the help of a professional who is knowledgeable about conveyancing. Conveyancing is a legal and systematic process of transferring property ownership from its owner to the buyer. On the one hand, a conveyancing solicitor is a lawyer who studies property law and practises their knowledge by helping people sell and buy property as smoothly as possible. Cheltenham is a small suburbia in the northern region of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia, located in the local government area of Hornsby Shire and is about 18 kilometres northwest of Sydney’s central business district. The 2021 Australian Bureau of Statistics showed that the small suburb has more than 2,000 residents, with 53% of the population being females and the average age of people being 46, 8 years older than the Australian national average age. 67% of the population are naturally-born Australians, matching the national average. Regarding housing, almost all of the dwellings are made up of separate houses. The most common religious groups are Catholicism and Anglicanism.

For over a thousand years, the area where Cheltenham was located was a hunting ground and meeting place for the Australian Aboriginal Wallumedegal people. Cheltenham was named after a house constructed by William Chorley, a Sydney tailor and landowner who owned the land when it was released from the Field of Mars Reserve. Chorley based the name on his hometown Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. In 1898, Chorley requested the government to build a station and name it after his property, which was not granted. The station built was called Sutherland Road, named after John Sutherland, the Minister for Public Works, from 1887 to 1889.

Today, Cheltenham is a small residential area that maintains its architectural heritage and is widely known for its fine trees and landscaped gardens. The suburb houses several 19th-century mansions situated on tree-lined roads. It is a leafy suburb that provides natural fresh air everywhere you go. Many residents from nearby cities move here so their children can go to quality schools in the area. Some statistics of Cheltenham include

  • It shares its postcode with Beecroft and is sometimes mistaken as part of the suburb
  • It is a wealthy suburb with more than double the average weekly household income compared to the Australian national average weekly household income
